You can find premade metal bag labels from your favorite bag hardware supplier. They are available in many metal finishes and designs. The words might stand alone in a beautiful font, or they might be etched into a metal plate. While the front is meant to be admired, the back goes inside your unfinished bag. They are installed using prongs and a washer, so don’t forget to add this step before you sew your bag closed!

How to Apply

Step 1

Fit the label onto the washer to determine which holes to use for the prongs. On the wrong side of the bag, on top of any interfacing or stabilizer, use the washer to mark the placement for the slits.

Step 2

With a sharp crafting knife, carefully cut the slits through all the layers.

Step 3

Place the washer on top of the wrong side of the bag, and press the prongs of the bag label through the slits and washer from the right side of the bag. Bend the prongs outward.
