Keyfob hardware is used to connect a decorative strap with your set of keys. The strap end that goes into the keyfob hardware does not need to be finished, since the hardware itself will be the star of the show.
There are different kinds of keyfob hardware styles. One style is a clamp version with “teeth”, intended for webbing or very thin straps. You apply this style using a mallet or a hand press tool. Make sure you protect your strap and the hardware! You don’t want any scratches or snags.
Another style covers more of the strap end and is more substantial. It usually has a nice shape, too! This style is attached to your strap with set screws and can accommodate a thicker strap.
Keyfob hardware comes with a key ring attached, which you can then use to attach your own keys.
Size Matters
Keyfob hardware comes in different styles, though the width is typically around 25mm (1 inch).
When you buy keyfob hardware, the size that is indicated refers to the inner width of the hardware. This is the most important measure since you have to match it to the width of the strap you intend to use with it.
