a bagmaking essential
Just like d-rings, o-rings owe their name to their shape. They are primarily used for attaching straps, handles, or other elements to a bag or accessory.
O-rings are closed circles, and are different from removable rings that open with a lever.
It is also referred to as: ring, connector ring, leather hardware ring
O-rings come in various sizes and weights. Common sizes range from 10 to 38mm (1/2 inch to 1 1/2 inches) in width. When you buy an o-ring, the size that is indicated refers to the inner width of the ring.
However, the more important measurement is near the top or bottom of the ring, since that is where your tab or strap will be attached. Your tab or strap needs to be narrower than this width, otherwise, it will bunch up.

FAQ
Question: How do I select a ring size?
Answer: You should consider where the strap will hang against the ring, and decide how you want the strap to look. Do you want absolutely no bunching? Then select a ring wide enough at its narrowest point to accommodate your strap. Do you want a specific size ring? Then make your strap to fit. It’s all up to you!

Attach o-rings the same way you would attach d-rings. Loop the strap through the hardware, and stitch into place and/or use a rivet to secure.
