These buckles are available as single or dual adjust versions, referring to adjustable straps. Single adjust has an adjustable feed bar on end and a fixed strap feed bar on the other. If you only ever need to adjust one side, as when using it for a bag closure or quick release strap, select a single adjust buckle.
Dual adjust have adjusters at both ends. Select this option if you need strap length adjustability at both ends of the buckle.
While most commonly available in plastic, they are also available in metal with various finishes for a higher-end look and feel.

Single and dual adjust side-release buckles are sold by width, commonly ranging from 19 to 38mm (3/4″ to 1 1/2 inches).
When you buy a side-release buckle, the size that is indicated refers to the inner width of the adjuster or strap feed bar. This is the most important measurement since you have to match it to the width of the webbing or strap you intend to use with it.
Your webbing or strap should be the same width as or slightly narrower than the adjuster or strap feed bar.
For the adjuster side, make sure your strap is not too thick to feed through.

Question: How much tolerance is acceptable for a good strap – buckle fit?
Answer: You want your strap to be the same width or even a little narrower than the buckle width. If the strap is too wide, it will bunch up on the adjuster and strap feed bars.
Question: What about the length of the buckle?
Answer: That’s your preference! First pay attention to the width and whether it’s a single or dual adjust, then see if the overall length is aesthetically suitable for your project.
