Strap hinge

Are you tired of sewing over bulky d-ring tabs when making your perfect, sleek handbags? We have the answer for you!

Designed by Zipper Zoo, these strap hinges are installed after you finish your bag. The bottom part installs right over the top edge of your bag. The top part provides an extra bonus: you tuck your unfinished strap ends right inside!

The hinge means that your strap will drape effortlessly over your bag when not in use. A combination of four screws keeps everything secure and in place, so you’ll never worry about a d-ring tab fraying or coming loose, ruining your bag.

These hinged strap connectors save you time and effort while looking elegant and performing flawlessly.

Size Matters

The strap hinge by Zipper Zoo comes in two sizes: 19mm (3/4″) and 25mm (1″). This size refers to the inner width of top part of the strap hinge, where the strap will be inserted. Since the strap goes inside, the strap width is crucial and should be a perfect fit.

The bottom part of the strap hinge has open sides, and simply slides over the top finished edge of a bag. The thickness of that bag edge needs to fit within the strap hinge, and there needs to be at least a bit of material surrounding the hardware around the side and bottom edges.

Question: How much tolerance is acceptable for a good strap-to-strap hinge fit?

Answer: A deviation up to 2mm down is perfectly acceptable for a good fit. For example, a strap that is 23-25mm wide will fit into the 25mm strap hinge. More space will make your strap susceptible to twisting.

Question: Is the strap hinge height important?

Answer: No, as long as there is a bit of material surrounding the three sides of the bottom portion of the strap hinge once installed (along the two side edges and the bottom edge).
